SHOP THE LOOK
Well hello there! I hope your Monday weather is looking a tad bit better than it is here in Oakwood, Georgia today. I wanted to ramble a little bit on today’s post along with the topic discussion which is athleisure. One of my all time favorite type of clothing to wear.
I’m sure that if you were to ask my husband or my close friends what you’d typically catch me in if I were outside my home, they would agree on “workout clothes”. Since I was young, I’ve always been the tom boy, but a tom boy that also loved hair, makeup, and a sparkly dress every now and then. I find it funny sometimes that I have a blog about fashion, but yet if I had my choice I would usually choose to be comfy over a pair of skinny jeans and a lace blouse. SO, I’m going to share some of my fav leggings, tops that can be worn both to work out in as well as to run errands in, and some other fitness accessories below in the galleries.
Now on to my rambling…
First off, I wanted to say a big “Hallelujah” to the fact that I was able to wean Harlie off of her paci in just 4 days! I researched so much before I was going to start to see what was some of the best methods other mommy’s had found that worked. Do note that she wasn’t allowed to have it except for sleeping, and if she was upset in the car (and when she was sick with RSV) since she was about 10 months. I did keep seeing things about using the dates on the Farmer’s Almanac that would make it easier on everyone involved. HERE is a link so you can read a little more into it if you’re interested. Basically, each month has 3-6 days that are the “best” for all types of things in life.. examples include things like “best days to plant xyz veggies”, “best days to buy a home”, “best days to detox”, etc. There are also days that are suppose to be the best for weaning animals and children. For the animals its talking about weaning them from their mother and/or move them into a different fence area, or to sell them. For children, this can be weaning from various things like breastfeeding, the bottle, paci, and more. My thoughts on this was.. well.. what could it hurt? I’ve got to do this anyway so why not try it on these days and MAYBE it would be a little less painful than I’m anticipating.
Day one was NOT fun. She naps at 10am, again around 2/3pm, and then bedtime 7/7:30ish. Her morning nap was complete with ONE HOUR of crying and squirming. She did not like what was happening. I gave her a bottle, and then did my best of singing to her and trying to comfort her the best I knew how without handing her the paci. She finally gave it up. To shorten this up, it went about 15 min less each sleep the first 2 days. By day 3 she was no longer reaching for it when she grabbed her blanket (and would normally be pointing to the dresser top for the paci). I almost forgot to add this in.. I had also read that some women had cut the tip of the paci off so that they wouldn’t be able to get the full “sucking” aspect and would eventually want nothing to do with it. I did try this the first day, but I honestly felt like it made the situation worse, and she got more mad every time herself or I would put it in her mouth. So day 2 and on, I just didn’t even get it out at all. By day 4, she was getting to sleep within 10-15 minutes just like she did before when we did have the paci! I was so relieved. How did you wean? Or did you just do the Cold Turkey method?
Next, Justin and I are wanting to get back to some traveling now that Harlie is one and sleeping through the night as well as more self entertaining for our parents to babysit for more than a day. That being said, short-weekend trips are more in favor right now besides one “big” trip we’re going to try to do this year. Do y’all have any ideas for Georgia, or anywhere else in the south? Comment below!
Lastly, I did a huge closet clean out and organization recently and uploaded a ton of items on to the app PoshMark (@RandiRichardson). A few examples of what is still available for purchase are some of these…
