As a makeup artist/hair stylist for years in the wedding industry there are two months out of the year you better book 6+ months ahead of time if you want that certain vendor.. May & October. At least it was that way for my business. I also got married in May so I knew I needed to jump if I saw someone I wanted to hire before they got booked up. This time of year is so if-y in Georgia. Yes, it’s technically fall and has been for a while now, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be in the mid to upper 50s come dark when you’re going to be dancing outside at the reception. But you also don’t want to show up in a sleeveless dress in October even if it’s still in the upper 60s by dark. I’m going to break it down by formality of weddings to help pick out appropriate attire as a wedding guest, no matter the temps outside.
We’ve been to several casual weddings before and you want to be respectful of the bride and groom, but also not over dress to wear you stand out if you’re the only person not in the bridal party wearing slacks or a top fancy long dress. Below are 5 options for a casual wedding outfit including men’s.
This is the most popular type of wedding. We went with this category for our wedding and I think it fits us perfect. We didn’t really want guests there in holy jeans, but we also didn’t want men in black slacks because the groomsmen were in khaki! I love attending semi-formal weddings because you get to go out and buy a nice dress but still be an option to wear on a date night that isn’t too formal. I’ve got 4 options for the category below.
This is a very fancy event. The bride want everyone dressed to the nine’s and looking sharp. As usual the men’s attire is simply a black tux, or if it’s slightly casual formal could go with a suit. For the women, this is your chance to schedule that blow out/up-do and feel like your going to prom again! I love any opportunity to get decked out and wear a dress I normally wouldn’t get to wear any other occasion. Since the men’s outfit is a given, I’m just showing women’s dress ideas below.
How many weddings are you or have you attended this season? Was any of them black tie?
