I have had a ton of ladies ask me what I do to get my “pouf”. Some of my friends have jokingly said I should have grown up during the 80’s instead of being born at the end. I love big hair! So how do I get the volume, and what products do I grab for?
Doing bridal hair for over 7 years I had to figure out ways to get volume for all styles, including down & up-do’s. I found one magic bottle and haven’t found anything to replace it since. It’s THIS powder. I know some say baby powder does just as good of a job, but as a professional I beg to differ. All you have to do is sprinkle a small amount of this into the roots along your crown area, especially in the “swirl” part of your head. Once the powder is in you have two options.. either tease it to heaven, or plump it up using your fingers. I prefer teasing. I have THIS teasing brush which I use personally as well as in my hair kit. Just backcomb the sides of your part and the swirl area of your hair. Once you’ve done that, then easily brush down the “rat’s nest” as I like to call it so that when looking at your hair, no one can see the backcombing your just did. The other way if you just want a very subtle look, is to run your fingers through the areas that have the powder in it and watch as the powder reacting with the heat of your fingers lift the hair up.
The other advise I have is if you have a special occasion or a night date night I would suggest washing your hair the night before instead of day of. This will allow just enough “dirtyness” to let your hair style last longer. If you have oily hair or plan to workout after washing your hair, I recommend THIS or THIS dry shampoo. I like both.
Besides the volume, I will either straighten my hair or run a curling iron through it leaving the last 2 inches out to give it the “beachy waves” look.
Hope this helps for anyone wondering!
