I’m here soley to talk about babies on this one..
Once I became pregnant I realized how much research I needed to do on baby stuff besides the obvious needs. Its 2017, they have everything! I remember going to Babies-R-Us with my mom after me and Justin went to register to get all the big stuff that we had totally forgot about so many little detail things my mom had to point out that we needed.. rookies. In all seriousness, they truly do seem to have some sort of everything out there needed if not many to choose from in each genre of baby needs. Makes me really thankful I didn’t have a child 20-40 years ago! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite items we’ve used and loved below for all you new mamas.
I was hesitant to buy this because of the price. I thought it was steep for a baby bed, buttt it was SO worth it. Harlie took to it right away and has been napping and sleeping at night in it. We got the Deluxe version. They have many cute colors and sizes to fit everyone’s needs.
2. Swing
Harlie LOVES this swing. She also loves when my mom swings her outside in her swing by the pool. She seems to fall asleep on her own much better than when I try putting her in the Rock-n-Play.
3. Boppy
This u-shaped pillow was THE best thing for breastfeeding. I would prop her in football or regular position on this pillow and not have to be uncomfortable the entire time she nursed. I also bought a cover for it from here for easy washing.
4. Bumbo
This crazy looking thing of a “chair” has so many benefits. Not only does it help them get the muscles in their head stronger to hold up on their own, but it’s a great way to pass some time in while mom tries to get some things done. I’ll usually put her in it on our ottoman. That way if she were to wiggle her way out somehow it wouldn’t be onto the floor or counter. It didn’t take but 2 or 3 times of feeding her baby food in it that she now knows what’s coming once she gets put in it!
5. Blow dryer in Nursery
Excuse me.. but why exactly do I need a blow dryer in my baby’s nursery? Because I was severely colic as a baby and my mom found that the second she turned on the blow dryer I quit crying! So.. naturally I followed her steps and tried it a couple times when Harlie was really fussy (no, she was not colic) and it was like a switch. Every time I turned it on high, she immediately would calm. We do have the White Noise app on our phone for these noises they say help, but nothing to me does better than a blow dryer.
6. Baby Carrier
Now I know there are many types out there, but I personally love the Tula and the ErgoBaby. I bought the Tula and a couple of weeks later Justin bought the Ergobaby. Mine will only allow you to wear baby two ways: either facing (hugging) you, or like a piggy back ride (their belly facing your back). Justin’s Ergo has multiple options including front facing so they can see out which is now what Harlie wants to do at 5 months.
7. iPad /Kindle
So I may have originally bought this one for me, but it has been a life saver with Harlie, too. Mainly for in the car or at dinner, but we hang the iPad up over her mirror in the car when I’m sitting in the back with her and turn the Disney Channel app on and she will sit and watch it! We’ve also used the cover to set it up on the table while we’re eating so she can see it in the car seat and it’s saved us some much time while we’re not at home.
I hope some of these items can help you with your new bundle of joy like they did us!
